HENRIETTA, NY – Monroe County in New York is going to spend up to $400,000 to acquire 28 vehicles in their fleet that take E-85 fuel, and will start supplying county pumping stations with the E-85 fuel, which is 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent unleaded gasoline, according to the Web site www.13wham.com.

Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks said, “It’s a cheaper way to run vehicles. Obviously, they’re more fuel-efficient and allow us to conserve fuel. In the long term, I think it’s going to save the county money.”

The county is also using biodiesel for a few of its trucks.
