WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The City of Winston-Salem has hired Martha Wheelock to be the city manager, according to The Business Journal newspaper. She currently serves as the city’s deputy finance officer. One of Wheelock’s responsibilities will be to oversee the city’s fleet services department.

In addition, Wheelock will oversee the coliseum complex, marketing and communications, property maintenance, human resources, and internal auditing departments. She also will coordinate the implementation of capital projects and work on strategic planning initiatives. She joined the city staff in 1999 and was previously a business manager for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
