SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) will add 350 Dodge Chargers to its police vehicle fleet over a three- to four-year period starting with 2006-models, according to KSL News Radio. The Utah Highway Patrol picked the Dodge Charger because it has excellent “get up and go” for when troopers are chasing down speeders, with 340 horsepower. It also gets better gas mileage, and each Charger will have a digital camera installed in it, so video of high-speed chasing and arrests will be much more clear, according to KSL News Radio. Use of the digital cameras also allows for the video to be downloaded to a database once the trooper is in range of their building. The video can then be accessible on demand.
