FT. SMITH, AR – The Sebastian County Quorum Court voted to adopt an ordinance that limits the use of county-owned vehicles to “conduct official county business only.” Now, employees can’t use county vehicles to get to and from work, according to the Ft. Smith Times Record. The ordinance affects only 10 employees in the county assessor’s office who use county vehicles in their work and are allowed to drive the vehicles to and from work each day. The county pays for fuel and maintenance of the vehicles.

The measure does not apply to elected officials, law enforcement officers, or other county employees who may be required as part of their employment to respond to an emergency during off-duty hours.
