ELKO, NV – Former Elko County Undersheriff Bill Cunningham has been charged with two felony counts, which stemmed from a sheriff’s auction last year. He’s accused of allegedly improperly buying a retired county vehicle at auction, according to the Web site www.KRNV.com
According to court documents, Cunningham allegedly bought the vehicle for $350 and later allegedly sold it for $3,800. County employees were barred from taking part in the sealed bid. Cunningham was put on paid administrative leave Nov. 4 and sent a letter of resignation to the sheriff Nov. 10, according to KRNV TV.
He was in law enforcement for 23 years and was named undersheriff in 2003
