SEATTLE – Flexcar is expanding its fleet of cars in Bellevue through a partnership with the City of Bellevue, King County Metro, Equity Office, and Unico Properties, according to the Seattle Times newspaper. The increased number of Flexcars will allow more employees in downtown Bellevue to ride the transit system or carpool and vanpool. Employees can leave their cars at home and use Flexcars to run errands during the workday. Cars are reserved online or via telephone, and Smartcards are used to open the doors, drive, and return the car. Members are assessed an hourly fee that includes gas, insurance, unlimited miles, maintenance, parking, and 24/7 emergency service. Parking spots are being provided by Equity Office in the Symetra Financial Center and by Unico Properties in the Skyline Tower, and King County Metro will offer incentives for new members, the report said. With the expansion, about 200 Flexcars will be available throughout Seattle and Bellevue, including sedans, gas-electric hybrid cars, and specialty vehicles.
