WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Clean Diesel Fuel Alliance has launched www.clean-diesel.org to provide comprehensive information about the nationwide transition to ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD). The U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as engine, vehicle, and component manufactures, all sectors of the petroleum industry, and fuel consumers, are providing comprehensive information and technical coordination. New EPA standards require a major reduction in the sulfur content of diesel fuels and emission levels from diesel engines and vehicles. To meet EPA standards, the petroleum industry will produce ULSD fuel, a cleaner-burning diesel fuel containing a maximum 15 parts-per-million (ppm) sulfur.
