State of Connecticut to Add More Hybrids to State Fleet

April 19, 2006

HARTFORD, CT – The state of Connecticut is adding more fuel-efficient vehicles to its fleet, according to the Associated Press. Vehicles such as the Toyota Prius, Honda Civic, Ford Escape, and GMC Sierra will be integrated into service. The vehicles are part of the 575 alternative-fuel and hybrid vehicles the state has purchased. Municipalities, schools, and non-profits can take advantage of the Connecticut state contracts for the vehicles, by “piggy-backing” their purchases off the state deal, the report said. The State of Connecticut Department of Administrative Services bought the vehicles based on the 2005 fuel economy guide issued by the U.S. Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency.
