PALM SPRINGS, CA - Palm Springs police along with authorities in the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department are searching for suspects believed responsible for stealing municipal vehicles the weekend of April 8-9, according to The Desert Sun newspaper. On April 7, Palm Springs investigators learned that a city vehicle, a 2001 Ford F-150 truck, had been stolen from the City Shop, where Palm Springs vehicles and other city owned equipment are serviced or stored, said Palm Springs Police Sgt. Mitch Spike, as reported by The Desert Sun newspaper. On April 8, officials in the San Bernardino County storage yard discovered the Palm Springs vehicle while investigating the theft of a San Bernardino sheriff’s vehicle from there. Investigators believe they have a suspect in custody, who may be connected to the thefts. At the time of his arrest, the suspect allegedly had on him items that were reportedly stolen from the Palm Springs City Shop, including a city employee's identification card. The suspect also had a gasoline card from San Bernardino County's yard.
