SPRINGFIELD, IL – Many of Illinois state vehicles currently on the road are running on E-85 or biodiesel, and the number of those state vehicles continues to grow, according to FarmWeek. Illinois now has 1,700 flex-fuel vehicles in a 12,100 state-vehicle fleet. The state’s Department of Central Management Service, which manages the state’s vehicle fleet, has started tracking renewable fuel usage, and E-85 use has increased 33 percent in the last six months alone. The state now uses about 30,000 gallons of two percent biodiesel each month.
