LAS VEGAS – Doug Keene, fleet manager for the Las Vegas Valley Water District since 1993 and a 37-year industry retired Dec. 31. A native of Beckley, W. Va., Keene retired from a nearly 23-year career in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1990 after leading motor transport organizations with more than 5,000 vehicles and 300 Marines. In Las Vegas, Keene directed a staff of 31, maintaining a fleet of more than 1,000 units of automotive and construction equipment and 1,800 pieces of miscellaneous equipment. Keene’s accomplishments include Congressional recognition for his efforts in developing an alternative-fuel program for the state of Nevada. Named the 2003 Fleet Manager of the Year by the Rocky Mountain Fleet Manager’s Association, Keene was also a two-time Automotive Fleet nominee for Professional Fleet Manager of the Year. A frequent contributor to Government Fleet, Keene will reside in Beaver, W. Va.
