CHANCELLOR, SD — Eight of 10 new vehicles in the state of South Dakota’s motor pool this year will be flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs). The vehicles are capable of running on a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline, according to the Aberdeen News. These 251 new cars, minivans, and pickup trucks will increase the state’s fleet of E-85 vehicles to 562, or 17.5 percent of all vehicles. The state’s vehicle fleet is replaced as vehicles reach a certain specified age and mileage criteria. Of the 251 FFV vehicles purchased this year, 195 will be go into the state’s general fleet, 46 will go to the Department of Transportation, and 10 to the Department of Game, Fish, and Parks, according to the Aberdeen News report.
