PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is testing a dozen Chevrolet Tahoes, according to the Arizona Republic. “When [members of the city's vehicle committee] took into account officer and prisoner safety, officer and prisoner comfort, equipment storage, and transportation needs, assistance to citizens, as well as the diverse driving demands we are confronted with, the Tahoe seemed like a viable option,” said Kathy Ralph, a spokeswoman for the Phoenix Police Department.

In the coming months, the officers who use the Tahoes will evaluate them. The department hopes to learn whether citizens like them. The vehicles will also be evaluated for their cost effectiveness, she said.
