FRANKFORT, KY – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced new environmental and conservation initiatives in celebration of Earth Day on April 22, according to a news release from the cabinet. Of the initiatives, two include using alternative fuel and hybrid vehicles. Ethanol and biodiesel will be the primary fuel for all state gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment. The second initiative involves increasing the number of hybrid vehicles in the state motor pool to 14 from 10 by July 2005.
