SCOTTSBORO, TX – Mayor Dan Deason of Scottsboro, Texas, reported to the city council that he would not make sweeping changes in the city's policies with regards to the use and consumption of fuel, according to the Daily Sentinel. Council member Buddy Simmons had asked the mayor to research the issue and prepare a report for discussion. Simmons suggested that rather than assigning vehicles to individuals or departments that a pool-car system be implemented. The council member also asked for all city-owned vehicles to be marked. Councilman Jim Helms and Simmons said some employees were using city vehicles for other than official business. Deason stated that violators of city ordinances and policies would be dealt with appropriately. Deason also noted that decals were being applied on all cars required to be identified.
