CHICAGO – Dozens of police departments across Illinois are trying to drop out of a class-action lawsuit against Ford Motor Co., according to the Chicago Tribune. The lawsuit alleges that the car company's Crown Victoria Police Interceptor sedans weren't safe. The police departments want to buy more Crown Victoria Police Interceptors and Ford won't sell them to any agency involved in the lawsuit. Illinois is the only state with a class-action lawsuit involving law-enforcement agencies, but 75 municipalities in 20 states have sued Ford since 2002.
