SALEM, OR – According to the Associated Press, 12 Oregon transportation workers will be penalized for accepting gifts from a cleaning chemicals company that sold products to state offices. The punishment varies from a letter in their permanent employment files to a tempo-rary pay cut.

The gifts from the cleaning chemicals company, Stone Cold Chemicals, ranged in value from $25 to $100. Recently, four Oregon Transportation Department workers resigned for allegedly accepting $10,000 to $15,000 worth of gifts over seven years from Stone Cold Chemicals. An investigation has been launched and Oregon officials are looking into 34 midlevel transportation employees who might have taken less than $100 worth of gifts.
