SAN JUAN, PR — Puerto Rico Gov. Anibal Acevedo Vila on Jan. 3 announced that he will reduce the vehicle fleet at La Fortaleza to 27 from 52, according to the Associated Press. In his first press conference at the executive mansion, Acevedo Vila said the vehicles that are not used will be turned over to the police. “The assistants to the governor will not have official vehicles,” the governor said. He said that advisers to La Fortaleza who need transportation to the Capitol or governmental agencies will use the so-called “pool” of cars for the executive mansion. The cut in the vehicle fleet will reduce costs from $288,258 to $138,380 annually.
