PORTLAND, OR – Oregon's Department of Administrative Services and Flexcar, the car-sharing company, have entered into a contract together for a six-month pilot program, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal.

Employees of participating agencies can use the Flexcar service for official business trips between January and June. Trips can be up to four hours. The contract is for 100 hours per month.

Dan Clem, State of Oregon fleet manager for passenger vehicles, said Gov. Kulongoski wanted to explore ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to continue to serve the public as the agencies do now.

The Department of Environmental Quality, the Oregon Department of Transportation Region 1, and the Oregon Economic and Community Development Department have all agreed to participate in the pilot program.
