LEHIGH VALLEY, PA – Mercury Associates Inc. has placed an offer to Northampton County to do consulting work to study whether Northampton County could oversee its vehicles more efficiently by hiring a fleet manager, according to the Morning Call.

An audit in January 2003 reported that the county's vehicle fleet was too large and inefficiently run. The audit suggested that hiring a fleet manager would be one option to solve the county's fleet problems.

There are about 117 vehicles in Northampton County that are assigned to departments responsible for their maintenance. The audit found that many vehicles were not used on a typical day.
