VICTORVILLE, CA - The City of Victorville is buying 12 new vehicles from local dealers and getting a sedan from the state to replace 23 vehicles from the 1970s and ´80s, reported the Victorville Desert Dispatch. The new vehicles consist mostly of compact, 2-wheel drive pickup trucks and full-size trucks for the Community Services Department, Public Works Department, and Engineering Department. Twenty-six city employees are eligible to receive a city vehicle or a monthly stipend. The stipend is $400 a month for the 14 department directors and executive managers and $250 a month for 12 employees who must drive according to their job descriptions.
