KANSAS CITY, MO — Gerald W. Calk has been appointed fleet administrator for the City of Kansas City, Mo. His experience in the fleet maintenance field made him the ideal candidate for the position, said City Manager Wayne A. Cauthen. “It is my expectation that with Gerald overseeing the city’s fleet of vehicles, we will see a dramatic increase in efficiency,” Cauthen added. Calk most recently served as fleet manager for the State of South Carolina, where he oversaw the largest centrally managed, state-owned fleet in the U.S. In this position, Calk was able to design and implement a fleet fuel program that generated savings of more than $3 million annually. He also managed a combination in-house/outsource program that saved more than $6 million annually.
