JACKSON, MS — Missing since August 5, a stolen City of Jackson SUV has been linked to at least one attempted burglary, according to WLBT TV on August 15. Belmont Trapp awoke at 4 a.m. Aug. 13 to the bark of her German shepherd. She noticed motion-sensitive outdoor lights glowing beside her neighbor's house, she said to WLBT TV. As the man walked down the driveway, Trapp called the police. When she went back outside, she was relieved to see a City of Jackson SUV just a few houses down. “I thought 'Oh, the police are here' and I started waving it down," said Trapp to WLBT TV. But the car was not police; it was the prowler. Just hours earlier, at midnight, a white 1992 City of Jackson Chevrolet Blazer was stolen from a city employee's house. “Officers are continuing to look for the vehicle. An investigator has been assigned to the case and the vehicle has not yet been recovered,” said police spokesperson Robert Graham.
