FITCHBURG, MA — Louisville Metropolitan Public Works and Lexington Fayette Urban County Government announced that they have acquired FleetWave, an Internet-based fleet management system offered by Chevin Fleet Solutions. FleetWave is an internet-based fleet management software solution, which was launched into the North American market in 2002 when Chevin Fleet Solutions, LLC established an office in Massachusetts. In January of 2003, the cities of Jefferson and Louisville, Kentucky, consolidated into a single metropolitan government, bringing together with this merger two of the larger local fleets in Kentucky. The primary objective for the newly combined Metropolitan Public Works is to deliver exceptional service, drive improved fleet efficiencies, and enhance the County’s return on its fleet investment. Critical to attaining these goals was to implement a new fleet management system that “satisfies the daily needs of our diverse user community with a simple and intuitive system, while providing for easy extraction of fleet information in a timely and meaningful way,” said Ed Meece, Assistant Director of Public Works. With the implementation of Chevin’s Web-based fleet management system, FleetWave, the combined Metropolitan Public Works will have a single system that will allow fleet management and the dispersed agencies it supports to consolidate and access fleet information on a real-time basis. The Metro Government operates and maintains more than 2,300 registered vehicles including a diverse mix of on-road and off-road equipment as well as up to 1,700 additional pieces of equipment. The Fleet Services Group supports multiple agencies and departments across the Metro Government including Police, Fire and Rescue, Emergency Medical Support, Solid Waste, Parks, Zoo, and Public Works. The Metro Government’s strategy is to leverage FleetWave's capabilities to consolidate the urban and suburban fleet maintenance organizations into one centralized Fleet Service Division supporting the County's multiple agency fleet management requirements. Used for internal repair order and inventory management, fuel, operator, accident, and pool car management, FleetWave’s Web-based architecture will allow this growing and evolving fleet to manage every fleet related detail on a single platform. Lexington Fayette Urban County Government (Lexington, Kentucky), also chose FleetWave to manage it’s 2,100-unit fleet. The Lexington Fayette Division of Fleet Services maintains a diverse public sector fleet from street sweepers and sanitation trucks to police cruisers and fire apparatus. Through its central maintenance facility and six satellite locations, the Division of Fleet Services is responsible for management of the equipment that keeps this Urban County Government operating. By linking all of Lexington Fayette’s maintenance facilities together with Chevin’s Web-based FleetWave, remote users are able to access all of FleetWave’s capabilities from their Web browser, anytime, anywhere. With extensive fleet management requirements from complete asset and lifecycle management, workshop, inventory, purchasing, warranty and campaign management, operator, accident and risk management, integrated fuel management, and motor pool capabilities, the Division of Fleet Services will centrally maintain every critical business component necessary to manage their diverse fleet.
