TULARE, CA — Over the past year, the 19-member Tulare County Grand Jury has overseen investigations into various county functions, from education to the county's vehicle fleet maintenance, according to the Visalia Times-Delta newspaper. The grand jury's final report was released June 24 and included the following recommendations regarding the county fleet:
  • Purchase, assignment ,and maintenance of the county's fleet of 1,215 vehicles — ranging from sedans and vans to flatbed trucks and bulldozers — are now handled by different agencies. Consolidating those operations under a single fleet manager may be more efficient.
  • All maintenance personnel should get additional vehicle repair training to reduce the amount of outsourced work.
