AUSTIN, TX – The Texas National Guard is using Energy Xtreme’s mobile electric power systems in six Ford Explorers. These civil emergency response vehicles are in two of the Texas National Guard’s departments, Homeland Response Force and Civil Support.

With the Guard using its fleet to respond to natural disasters, this system allows the organization to operate electrical equipment from their vehicles without needing to use a given vehicle’s engine.

The system also reduces the need to idle the vehicle. It can power each vehicle’s lights, onboard camera, computer, electrical equipment, and radio. Energy Xtreme added that the system extends vehicle life and reduces maintenance costs, as using the system means less wear and tear on the engine.

Another government entity in Texas that recently adopted this system for some of its vehicles is Fort Hood.
