Ford will offer a special service F-150 truck to law enforcement agencies for the 2016 model year that will compete with existing special service trucks from Chevrolet and Ram Truck. Ford will also offer a special service Expedition large SUV.

Ford is offering its Special Service Vehicle package with the SuperCrew and SuperCab F-150 XL models that adds a high-output alternator and easy-clean rear vinyl bench seating and flooring. The rear seat is swapped out for a vinyl bench for quick cleanup. The vehicle arrives without a center console, so agencies can add custom police equipment.

Ford will offer its special service F-150 with rear-wheel or four-wheel drive and two engines — the 5.0L V-8 or 3.5L EcoBoost engines.

A high-output 240-amp alternator replaces the stock unit to accommodate for extended idle times. Standard 40/20/40 seats are replaced with 40/blank/40 seats, with the center section deleted to create more space for customization.

The special service F-150 would compete with General Motors' special service crew cab Silverado and the Ram 1500 crew cab 4x4 special service truck.

In addition to its Police Interceptor Utility and Police Interceptor sedan, Ford also offers a special service sedan and Transit prisoner transport van to law enforcement agencies.
