Sam Lamerato, CPFP, is retiring as fleet superintendent from the City of Troy, Mich., fleet after Dec. 31.

Lamerato has worked at the City of Troy for 42 years, serving a fleet superintendent for the last 33 years. During his time there, he has led the fleet to become one of the best public fleet operations in the nation.

Lamerato was inducted into the Public Fleet Hall of Fame and was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement award in 2014 and Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year award in 2011.

He will continue to work in the fleet industry as a consultant and with Public Fleet Summits. He is one of the judges the 2016 Leading Fleets award. 

Brian Varney has been named the new superintendent of fleet maintenance for the City of Troy.
