Sales of vehicles to government fleets fell 13.3% percent to 22,569 in May compared to the same month a year ago, according to Automotive Fleet data.

Nine manufacturers have sold 92,227 units through the first five months of the year, which represents a 7.7% decline over the same time frame in 2014.

Falling sales of passenger cars are lowering sales in the government vertical, while trucks, vans and SUVs are showing positive results for the month and year. Passenger cars fell 50.7% in the month to 4,407, while sales of trucks, vans and SUVs increased 6.2% to 18,162 units.

For the year, passenger car sales to fleets have fallen 31.9%, while sales of trucks, vans and SUVs increased 1.2% to 73,818.
