The 2015 model-year Ford F-150 SuperCrew pickup truck has earned a 5-Star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The redesigned, aluminum-intensive truck drew 5-Star scores in the frontal and side crash tests, and a 4-Star score in the rollover assessment in the federal agency’s New Car Assessment Program,

The 5-Star overall score applies to both 4x4 and 4x2 versions of the 2015 Ford F-150 SuperCrew full-size pickup truck.

The 2015 Ford F-150 Regular Cab and SuperCab trucks haven’t been tested yet.

Each year, NHTSA crash-tests a sample of new vehicles that are expected to have high sales volume or that have undergone a structural redesign. The all-new 2015 Ford F-150, which features a body and box built of a high-strength, military-grade aluminum, meets both criteria.

MGA Research performed the tests for NHTSA on Feb. 19, but results were just released.
