A San Francisco supervisor is drafting a plan to require telematics on every vehicle that could reach the board in June for a vote.

Supervisor Norman Yee, who is pushing the plan to equip the consolidated city fleet with GPS-based telematics devices, has asked the city attorney to draft legislation mandating telematics use by every department, reports the San Francisco Examiner.

Yee had requested the recent report from the city's Budget Analyst Harvey Rose that showed support for the initiative as a way to increase driver safety. Yee has said he'd like the city to embrace a Vision Zero plan to reduce pedestrian deaths by 2024.
