Dennis Scamardo, CAFM, previously fleet manager for Ventura County, Calif., joined Monterey County, Calif., as its new fleet manager on Jan. 27. Scamardo is assisting with the county's fleet restructuring using techniques and methodologies from the CAFM program, he said.

Some projects Scamardo is particularly interested in for the county fleet include "increasing fleet utilization through vehicle sharing with technology that allows fractional share usage, continuous process improvement, [improving] customer involvement, and modernizing the fleet with alternate technology vehicles," he said.

The Monterey County fleet consists of 1,164 light-duty vehicles and 144 heavy-duty units. The fleet has two maintenance facilities.

Ventura County is actively recruiting for its vacant fleet manager position.
