The City of Olympia, Wash., is the first city in the state to join Nissan's Leaf electric vehicle lease program. The city chose to lease six Nissan Leaf cars for two years; each Leaf costs $7,400 after the federal tax credit of $7,500, according to The Olympian.

The lease is expected to set an example for other agencies in the state that must comply with state laws. Washington state law requires that effective June 1, 2018, all local government agencies must use 100% biofuels or electricity to operate publicly owned vehicles. About 116 of the city’s 200 vehicles already meet this requirement, the newspaper reported.
