Harley-Davidson's 2014 Electra Glide police motorcycle will include a noise-dampening feature, additional one-touch controls, and a brighter headlamp, the company announced at a police trade show.
H-D unveiled the 2014 FLHTP Electra Glide at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference in Philadelphia earlier this week.
For the first time, the police motorcycle will include an air foil integrated into the batwing faring that reduces wind noise for the officer. The motorcycle also includes a brighter headlamp H-D is calling "the daylight maker," a spokesman told PoliceMag.com.
The Electra Glide will also see several improvements to the motorcycle's ergonomics, including additional one-touch controls for emergency lighting settings and an upgraded seat that can be pushed up so the officer can more easily mount and dismount the bike. Officers now ride on the adjustable seat with a slight push forward.
H-D increased the depth and width of the cycle's saddle bags, which can now be opened with an easy thumb control.
