The Philadelphia Police Department is set to recieve 150 new patrol vehicles equipped with technology that allows officers to turn traffic lights green when their emergency lights are on, NBC10 reported. In addition to the ability to turn change traffic lights, the vehicles will also have ballistic shield protection on the doors and windows provided by Hardwire.

The new vehicles are 2018 Ford Interceptor sedans and SUVs, in addition to 10 patrol wagons. One hundred of the vehicles are expected to be delivered by mid-December and the last 50 in March.

According to ABC6, the ballistic shields add an extra $1,300 to the cost of each vehicle.
