City Enacts Cell Phone Ban on Police Vehicles

BLACKFOOT, IDAHO - Four of Idaho's six neighbors already have laws against texting and driving, and one local community will ban it for city officials. Members of the City of Blackfoot Police Department will no longer text, e-mail, or send instant messages on a hand-held device while operating a city vehicle while the vehicle is in motion, according to KPVI.
If any member is involved in an accident in a city-issued vehicle and found texting, e-mailing, texting or talking on their cell phones, he or she will be considered "at fault" with the accident review board.
Neighboring departments have enacted similar policies. The state will introduce legislation against texting and driving in the next legislative session. Currently 30 states across the United States have laws against texting and driving, reported KPVI.
