WATERVLIET, NY - Watervliet Police Department recently purchased five new mobile data terminals to improve operations both in and out of the office, according to The Record.

The new additions mean the entire police fleet will now be equipped with laptops and computers to provide access to the same information while on the road or at the headquarters.

The department was awarded more than $24,000 June 8 to purchase the new equipment using money from the "Make Crime Pay" program, which uses seized criminal accounts from the Albany County District Attorney's Office to help police agencies improve their tactics and resources, the Record reported.

The Police Department already had five mobile data terminals which had been provided by the county about six years ago. The new units will have expanded capabilities, Police Chief Ron Boisvert, according to the Record.
