Ram ProMaster City Recalled for Steering Gear Housing

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is recalling approximately 224 2018 Ram ProMaster City compact vans because the gears within the hydraulic rack-and-pinion steering system may have a casting defect that can potentially fracture and lead to a loss of hydraulic steering fluid.

Research from the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) shows that vehicle parts can bring in about 70% of the full cost of the car. Grapahic courtesy of NICB

Rising Parts Costs Drive Vehicle Thefts

Thefts of vehicles in the U.S. rose again last year by more than 4%, according to preliminary 2017 crime data from the FBI. Many of the vehicles that are recovered are missing wheels and rims or other key parts.

Pa. County Creates Stricter Driver Policies

Westmoreland County, Pa., fleet drivers will have to complete safety driving classes after minor collisions before getting back behind the wheel, according to the city’s revised driver policy.

Keep control of your costs and improve the safety of your public sector fleet by reducing internal and external risks. Driver habits and policies can have a large impact on both your expenses as well as the safety of your drivers and others.
