The State of Colorado will start disclosing open recalls to prospective buyers of its vehicles on eBay, where it disposes of de-fleeted vehicles, a state spokesman told Government Fleet.

The announcement comes on the heels of a two-part investigative report by TheDenverChannel.com. Scott Edwards, the state's fleet manager, told the media outlet the state would begin including documentation of incomplete recalls with its eBay listings.

"We will now disclose all known defects when we market the cars," said Doug Platt, a spokesman for the Department of Personnel and Administration (DPA). "This would be an easy fix to include that information. The state has committed to do that moving forward."

The DPA oversees the Central Services section that includes the state's fleet.

The media outlet published two reports that looked at state vehicles sold on eBay and vehicles driven by state employees with open recalls.
