A small rural Minnesota community has acquired two semi-tractors and a tanker trailer from a state agency to facilitate a partnership with local farms.

The City of Cold Spring, Minn., acquired two Class 8 trucks and a tanker that's capable of hauling 4,000 gallons. City staff will use the trucks and tanker to haul biosolids from the city’s wastewater plant to local farms, where it will be used as fertilizer, the SCTimes reported. The city obtained the equipment for less than $15,000 from the Minnesota Surplus Services offce.

Editor's note: This article was corrected on Oct. 28 to reflect that the city acquired the vehicles from the state agency rather than the federal government.
