City of Tulsa to Sell 170 Fleet Assets

May 02, 2012

TULSA, OK – The City of Tulsa, Okla., plans to hold its spring auction on Saturday, May 5, and said it will sell about 170 vehicle and equipment assets. The City stated some of the vehicles are low-mileage units identified as underutilized, with mileage as low as 17,000.

Vehicles and equipment for sale include a six-wheel all-terrain vehicle, six John Deere Gator utility vehicles, five police motorcycles, cars, large and small trucks and tractors, and some heavy equipment.

The sale is part of the City’s effort to eliminate underutilized vehicles, which City staff undertook after working with fleet consulting company CST Fleet Services.

The City of Tulsa owns 3,482 total vehicle and equipment assets, 2,572 of which are vehicles. CST Fleet Services recommended the City reduce its fleet size by 22 percent, a reduction of around 568 vehicles. A previous auction in late 2011 brought in $800,000 from the sale of City assets.
