The Tulare County (Calif.) Board of Supervisors recently approved $1.28 million to purchase 40 new vehicles for the Sheriff’s Department, the Sun-Gazette reported.

Per the county’s Vehicle Internal Borrowing Fund established in FY-15, the Sheriff's Department is responsible for a quarter of the total cost plus interest. The remainder of the cost will be supplied by the county’s general fund.

In total, the agency plans to purchase 28 Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles totaling $910,000, 10 Ford Fusions totaling $292,000, one half-ton pickup truck totaling $39,400, and one transport van totaling $40,000.
