The City of Russellville, Ark., needs to come up with $1.6 million to replace its fire fleet after its fire chief said the department couldn’t keep up with repairs and out-of-service time for aging units, the Courier News reported. Ten of the department’s 19 vehicles qualify for immediate replacement, and some vehicles have become unreliable and no longer meet standards.

The department has no fleet replacement program and is budgeted just $400,000 for replacements. Council members are working on options to fund the purchases.
