Sales of fleet vehicles from nine manufacturers to government agencies declined 3.4% to 250,176 units in 2015 as heavily declining passenger car sales pulled down the average and muted growth in sales of trucks, vans, and SUVs, according to Automotive Fleet data.

Sales of trucks outpaced passenger cars by more than two to one, as manufacturers increased truck sales by 5.1% to 180,844 units. Car sales declined sharply, falling 25.5% to 69,332 units.

The year ended on a positive note, as December sales improved 3.4% to 20,676 units. The truck category provided the heavy volume and declined 1.3% to 17,132 units, while passenger car sales increased 26.1% to 3,544 units for the month.
