The City of Nashville (Tenn.) Fire Department has replaced a third of its fire fleet after taking delivery of 13 new fire engines costing $5.4 million. City leaders approved funding for the purchase two years ago, after financial restraints caused the city to delay replacing its aging fire trucks, NewsChannel5 reported.
The purchase of these fire trucks is part of a $6.5 million capital appropriation that included the purchase of seven new ambulances already in service.
The city dedicated the 13 Toyne fire engines on Oct. 30. The department hopes to have all the new vehicles on the road in the next few weeks, according to a post on its Facebook page.
