Departements of the City of Toledo, Ohio, will begin using “P cards,” or purchasing cards, following the unauthorized purchase of $7,000 in exercise equipment by fleet employees, Toledo News Now reported.

The P cards will limit purchases to specific items at specific companies and allow the finance department to track orders on a daily basis.

An audit revealed that the exercise equipment was the only unauthorized purchase by fleet employees. The two fleet managers who ordered the equipment are back at work after one week of unpaid leave, according to the news source.
