The City of Norfolk, Va., has hired Steven Patterson as its fleet manager, promoting him from the acting fleet manager role. He had been serving as assistant fleet manager since 2013 and replaces Facundo Tassara, who resigned in May.

Patterson has worked at the city for 33 years, 21 of which were in fleet management. He began his career as a fire apparatus technician in 1985.

Patterson’s plans for the city fleet include starting an apprenticeship program, expanding the leasing program, and rightsizing the fleet.

The Norfolk fleet consists of more than 2,000 units, of which 1,678 are rolling stock.
