The City of Palm Springs, Calif.'s former fleet services manager, Steven Dewayne Rakestraw, has been charged with embezzlement. He is suspected of taking $25,000 worth of equipment and other items, according to The Desert Sun.

Investigators said Rakestraw purchased parts using city funds, painted his own vehicles, had maintenance done on his personal vehicles, and was caught with a city tractor on his personal property.

The city began an investigation in July 2016 after discovering improper activities. Both employees involved were fired. So far, only charges against Rakestraw have been filed.
