HOUSTON - AssetWorks, a provider of fleet Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software and Automated Fuel Systems, has signed a contract and commenced implementation services with the City of Houston, Texas.

Houston is the fourth largest city in the United States with over two million residents. The City of Houston operates forty-three fleet maintenance facilities located throughout a 600 square mile area, which are responsible for maintaining and repairing over 12,000 vehicles and pieces of heavy-duty equipment. The total fleet is owned and maintained by the Police, Fire, Public Works and Engineering, Parks & Recreation, Solid Waste Management, and Aviation Departments.

When they began searching for a new Fleet Management solution, the City of Houston sought a solution that offered the following functionality:

  • 100% web-based application.
  • Easy to use reporting.
  • System generated alerts, notifications, and report distribution.
  • Key Performance Indicators (dashboards).
  • Wireless mobile device integration.
  • Replacement Analysis.
  • Integration with NAPA parts inventory system.
  • The ability to interface with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (ex: procurement systems, financial systems, human resources systems, etc.)

After a competitive procurement process, the City selected the AssetWorks' FleetFocus maintenance and management software application. The City chose FleetFocus because of its leading browser/web-based technology, depth of functionality and proven experience and track record of large scale public sector implementations.

"We see FleetFocus as a key management tool. With this software, we expect to have the necessary statistical data to 'right-size' our fleet, maximize our purchasing power, minimize our maintenance cost, and fully utilize our fleet's lifecycle," says James Tillman, City of Houston Finance Department.

AssetWorks is proud to provide fleet EAM software solutions to over 180 municipal government fleets, including 15 of the 20 most populated U.S. and Canadian cities, including: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Houston, Phoenix, San Diego, Dallas, Detroit, San Jose, Calgary, Indianapolis, Columbus, Austin and Memphis. "AssetWorks is proud of our history and success in serving city fleets.
