TORRANCE, CA – Despite declining tax revenues and slashed budgets, the salaries for public sector fleet managers increased over 9 percent in the 2008 calendar year, according to a soon-to-be released compensation survey conducted by Government Fleet Magazine.

The full survey will be published in the May/June 2009 issue of Government Fleet .

Some notable finds in this year's survey include:

  • Increased average fleet manager salary by $4,212 (vs. $70,481 in 2007).
  • Increased number of female fleet managers (7.5% in 2007 vs. 11% in 2008).
  • Fleet managers with more than 20-years experience earned highest average annual salary.
